Tongue (or more accurately Melness to Durness)

We've had a lovely day of stunning cycling (mostly round loch erribol). We started the day at bay view campsite in Melness just outside of tongue. I was feeling a bit tired this morning and the cycling felt challenging, especially with the hills we encountered today! However we were rewarded with positively hot weather and beautiful sunshine. We've both developed a fine outdoors glow today!
We stopped for a fab jacket potato lunch break at a wonderful little cafe on the edge of loch erribol (I didn't see any u-boats dad!). The cafe had a friendly old man running it and we had home made treacle tart made with real treacle which was a real treat!
En route to Durness we passed Smoo cave, the biggest cave in the uk (I think...) and stopped for a wonder into the cave - it was indeed impressive. We have since pitched our tent at Sango Sands campsite in Durness and are enjoying a good refuel and a beer in the on site restaurant - haggis and oatcakes, fish pie and venison - yum yum yum!! Tomorrow we set off to head south for the first time and will have finished the top coast of Scotland!
